In Episode 78 of the Orange Cactus Coffee Podcast, Mike and I talked about the proper pronunciation for Prescott, AZ, the short history of our podcast, and what we’re trying to accomplish in coffee.
Mike talked about his journey to try and get his December Dripper. Mike participated in a Kickstarter campaign to get this new hand pour brew device, hasn’t received his prize yet (it’s months late), and after my prompting last week- he finally reached out to them.
Coffee Experience. Mike recounted his experience at the Raven Cafe in Prescott, AZ. He had an interesting experience getting an iced mocha from them. The barista steamed the milk prior to putting it on ice for the iced white mocha. I think he messed up. He also hooked Mike up with an extra shot that he didn’t need to- because his math was bad. In my opinion, dude was a hot mess- but whatever.
We also chatted a little about cold brew from the King Cup and served on ice with a clear ice sphere made with a Wintersmiths ice maker.
Coffee Review. Hayman Coffee from London sent us some Jamaica Blue Mountain as a gift. Initially, they offered us Nespresso pods of their coffee, but we don’t have a Nespresso machine. We told them when they have whole bean, we’d love to try it. Well, they now offer whole bean coffee- and they sent us some Jamaica Blue Mountain as a gift. Thank you!!
Brew Tip of the Week. Do you ever need to make lots of coffee for large groups of people? Or do you just need to make coffee outdoors on the range. This Brew Tip comes from Kevin Sinnott’s excellent book The Art and Craft of Coffee.
Mike also talked about excellent customer service, as he dealt with Jess at Genuine Origin. I recounted an additional customer experience with Custom Flag Company in Westminster, CO.
Coffee Knowledge. Mikey drops some coffee knowledge for us by having me read a summary of the two major types of coffee, also from The Art and Craft of Coffee.
