During Episode 64 of the Orange Cactus Coffee Podcast, Mike and I talked about business, service, the Huskee cups that are currently available on Kickstarter, and a wide variety of topics.
Manny G Recommended an article about flat-bottom drippers by Michael Butterworth on Prima-coffee.com. The article was great, we just wished Michael would’ve made a little more definitive recommendation as to which dripper he likes most. I went ahead and asked in the article comments, but so far no reply.
Our Coffee Review was not really of actual coffee. This time, it was a review of Cascara (coffee tea) from Brandywine Coffee Roasters. Cascara is made from the dried fruit of the coffee. Newly illegal in the United Kingdom, I didn’t actually understand the appeal of Cascara until I tried it. It’s delicious.
The Coffee Experience we discussed was Mike’s recent trips to the Raven cafe in downtown Prescott. He doesn’t visit the Firehouse Cafe anymore, because of the extremely poor service he’d experienced as of late. But the Raven not only delivered great coffee, but fantastic service. We also talked about my very disappointing trip to Rafter 11, a new local shop that recently opened.
Our Coffee Legend was Francesco Illy, a Hungarian-born coffee legend and inventor of the espresso machine. He had a very long career in coffee that contains tons of lessons about overcoming adversity, patience, diligence, and many others.
