Mike and I recorded from our new studio area for the first time. My mom retired, left us, and moved out to Raton, NM to live the RV lifestyle with her sisters. She is missed, but we’ve repurposed her room for an office just like parents do to their college kids who fly the coop. Sorry, mom. But there’s still room for you and the aunties to come visit whenever you want.
We’ve been trying to get our thanks to Dave from Smuggler’s Coffee in on the podcast for several weeks, so here is his shout out, finally. His advice for getting the Aillio Bullet R1 roaster up and running has been invaluable for Mike.
We’re super happy with that roaster, but point out three things Aillio could do to make it even better. 1. They could include a Micro-USB cable with the roaster. 2. They could include an exhaust fitting. 3. Enable the usage of the Roastmaster app with the Bullet. Mike is about 10 roasts in, learning a lot, and enjoying the process. Mike bought a Windows based laptop to run their integrated roasting software, and so far it’s worked well.
Manny G Recommended Wolff Coffee Roasters College. They have tons of courses available in person in Australia and an online vlog. There three categories seem to fit every need- There is a roasting path, a barista path, and a coffee enthusiast path.
Mike and I drank Sweet Bloom Coffee that we received from Michael in Lakewood, CO, my old stomping grounds. Michael sent us a Duromina from Jimma, Ethiopia that was a washed single origin coffee with flavors notes of a floral bouquet, peach nectar, and lemon lime. It was an excellent coffee, and out many thanks to Michael and the #Coast2CoastRoast coffee community that makes this excellent coffee swap possible.
For our Coffee Experience, I talked about my third visit to BOSS coffee in North Scottsdale, AZ, and how it was a rather disappointing visit. It wasn’t terrible, but it was disappointing when compared to my previous two trips to get #coffeelikeaboss.
