In Episode 48, Mike and I talked entirely too long about customer service and our coffee experiences. That included a trip to Royal Coffee Bar and a stop in at Hava Java. Both are in Phoenix, AZ. We also chatted about the customer service inside a Safeway Pharmacy. The basic question to answer was this- if your customers are not pronouncing your products your way, how do you correct them? Should you correct them? Do you correct them? Or are you just interested in ensuring you’re communicating clearly instead of looking down your nose at them.
Hava Java gave us good service, but the coffee was all around terrible. It was bad coffee with good service instead of that bad coffee and bad service that Mike said he loves to get in order to create content.
We also talked about a recently concluded coffee study that examined the effect of coffee on people over 20 years. There are multiple health benefits to drinking three cups of coffee every day, and we talk about them a little bit.
Manny G Recommended the December Dripper, whose Kickstarted campaign just ended. The dripper should be available for retail soon.
We introduced a new segment, called Coffee Expert Spotlight. Or maybe we should call it. Kevin Sinnott, who has been running the Coffee Companion website for a long, long time. His book is what Mike had referenced multiple times to talk about coffee history.
Our Brew Tip of the Week was an update on the James Hoffman method of using the French Press or any press pot you happen to use.
