On Episode 46, Mike and I get off topic really fast in the show as we talked about Miranda Warnings and my right to remain silent about all the coffee I withheld from Mikey over the last few months. We drank Ascension Coffee’s Ardi Single Origin and Beefcake Blend that Greg Stermolle sent us from Dallas, TX.
Mike and I talk about our plans to pull the trigger on our next roaster, the Aillio Bullet R1. The Bullet is a 1kg roaster that we determined is the next best step up in our roasting journey. We considered moving up to a larger roaster and kind of skipping this step, but then remembered that many of you are looking at the Bullet as well- so we decided to go ahead an get one. We were looking at Mill City Roasters’ 1kg roaster and some roasters from Buckeye Coffee as well. The only drawback for Mike is that the Bullet isn’t compatible with Mac or the Roastmaster app. Mike fondly remembers his brand crush and the Huky 500 as well.
Mike teased the Elixir Project drink that he ordered and is on its way for us to try and report back to you on. This cold brew coffee, made with sound waves in some shape or form, is an exciting renovation in coffee. After listening to a podcast with the owner, Mike reports back about the Australian coffee scene and the way they view the industry in that country.
Based on your requests, we also talked about our journey in packaging and how we settled on using Packlane for boxing, Pacific Bag for our bags, Sticker Mule for our stickers, and Moo for our card inserts. For shipping, we use Stamps.com and try to stay under 1 pound for one bag of roasted coffee. Then we go off into more business conversation about running a site, delivering on an incredible shopping experience, and all the things that go on behind the scenes.
Manny G Recommends the Coffee is me Podcast. It’s jam-packed with lots of good things and has a monthly distribution. Our show runs a little long, and our apologies for going over our usual 45 minutes.
