Let me begin by apologizing for the pacing and tangent chasing nature of this episode. As I was still battling my cold and sound drunk, high, or whatever, I can assure you I was not. I was just sick. We start by clarifying what we’re doing with regards to giving negative, but honest reviews. Firehouse may have had other stuff going on behind the scenes that contributed to their downward spiraling descent into worse and worse service, but you still deserved the honest truth.
We talked about what we would like to accomplish at our ‘dream cafe,’ and how far we are from that reality. I think a lot of you have dreams about your own cafe, and I’d like to encourage you to do things your way. Whether it’s ModBar, Slayer, or whatever- go big and let us know when you’re up. We’ll make an effort to come see you.
Manny G Recommends: Manny G recommends the Espresso Forge, a very limited, exclusive, manual espresso machine. Manny G has one ordered and is patiently awaiting his Espresso Forge.
Coffee Review: We talked about the Starbucks Double Shot Espresso pre-made coffee nastiness again.
Coffee Experience: I visited a Starbucks and had a Starbucks Special Reserve Clover Single Origin Ethiopian Yirgacheffe for more than $4. We talked about how Starbucks is trying to expand into the Specialty Coffee world with pour-overs, clovers, and their own dripper. Mike brought up the UK McCafe ad again, and we discussed how the Starbucks as the McDonald’s of coffee analogy breaks down.
We tried to put the missing milk in your mochas conversation to rest. Our previous theory was that the baristas don’t steam enough milk for two drinks and fill up the rest of the space with whipped cream. And we got in to disposable coffee cups about how too much trash is going into the landfill because coffee cups are not easily recyclable. How do you feel about bringing a reusable cup into a cafe and having them fill it up for you? And how do you feel about the people in front of your bringing their tumblers in and having the staff wash it before they serve you.
Orange Cactus Update and Brew Tip: Lastly, we closed out talking about Orange Cactus Coffee and what we’re doing with out business ventures. Mike shared the brew tip of pre-wetting and pre-heating your brewing devices at home. Thanks for your patience with us, especially during this episode.
