Coffee, Cafes, and Carafes.
Mike and I recorded from the Blackboard Cafe for some good food and bad coffee. We talked about whether you expected a cafe to be more about coffee or food. We discussed the idea that Twitter Polls are real things, and what was in a name. We talked about Cuppers (a local cafe with good coffee) in Prescott, and Elevate– a coffee shop and roaster in North Phoenix.
I brought up the concept that buying a cup of coffee at a shop is paying the price of admission to stay in the cafe, use the Wi-Fi, and meet up with friends. This opportunity can be used to transform the casual coffee house visitor into raving fans when you win them over with something special.
Mike talked about his vision for us to bridge the gap between specialty coffee and the every day person. He also talked about what a caraft is, what a carafe is, and what the difference between the two is. He talked about grinding coffee in front of customers and alienating a certain segment of the coffee drinking population on purpose in order to stay true to your identity.
