Same Day Roast and Drink.
This is one of my favorite episodes ever. We violated the 24 hour roast and sit law and drank coffee that Mike roasted the morning of the show. That’s right, roasted and drank on the same day. No rest for the beans. It was actually an incredible experience. The beans were from Sweet Maria’s.
We also talked about the Hario V60, checked out the Roastmaster App, and looked at the coffee flavor wheel. I made an absolute mess of trying to figure out how to use the flavor wheel and misused the term “cupping” repeatedly. Mike revisited the Filtron cold brew method for us, and we talked about chicory root, cinnamon, vanilla, and other coffee additives.
Shout out also to Death Wish Coffee Company in this episode as well, as they lay claim to the ‘strongest’ coffee title. Not certain if they’re using arabicas and robustas, but they claim to be the coffee with the highest caffeine content available. Lastly, we talked about how coffee is grown and certified, and bemoaned the fact we don’t grow coffee in Central Arizona.
