In Episode 39 I talked about whether internet access and outlets for laptops in coffee shops is something you expect and want in your coffee shop experience. I looked at a recently completed study that shows people are more productive with background noise- specifically cafe background noise. If we get work done better, and people are more inclined to stay longer and buy more coffee, does it make sense to restrict the things that enable this in the name of fostering conversations with strangers?
